Last month was October, the month of Halloween and the month of the spooky and the scary. And on Halloween, I was very sick and concluded that if I watched a really scary horror film, I would probably not make it to the next day. But the fact is that I only watched one horror film in October, that film being Don't Look Now, and I feel that was quite a dumb choice. And therefore I have created a little challenge for myself.
As a punishment for not watching a film on Halloween, I am going to watch 10 of the most infamous horror films of all time. I have picked them from Letterboxd' list of the top 125 horror movies of all time. Here are the films I picked, in the order I will watch them:
Suspiria (Dario Argento, 1977)
House (Nobuhiko Obayashi, 1977)
Eyes Without A Face (Georges Franju, 1960)
The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari (Robert Wiene, 1920)
Night Of The Living Dead (George A. Romero, 1968)
The Night Of The Hunter (Charles Laughton, 1955)
Eraserhead (David Lynch, 1977)
The Innocent (Jack Clayton, 1961)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Tobe Hooper, 1974)
Halloween (John Carpenter, 1978)
Yeah, yeah, I know The Night Of The Hunter isn't really a horror movie, but I have been wanting to watch it for so long, and it just came out on Criterion, and it is on Letterboxd' list too.
I have already begun the marathon with Suspiria, but you'll just have to wait for my ratings and reviews until my What I Watched In November post comes out.
Speaking of that post ... I'm still figuring out the format, and therefore it may be delayed a few days. I said the release date was the 1st of December, but there's a 50% chance that it will actually be released on that specific date. But it will be released in early December, I can promise that.
And because I will be working on the November post, I won't have much time to begin on my review of The Graduate, but it will come after a while, and I promise it will be great.
